Congratulations to Rachel-Marie Gittelman, Andrew Kibert and Anish Mehta, BBB majors who have received undergraduate research awards through the Center for Undergraduate Research Funding (CURF).
Read about Penn Veterinary Researcher Tracy Bale who received a Career Development Award from Society for Neuroscience. In recent work, Dr. Bale demonstrated epigenetic changes in the hypothalamus, a brain area involved in the control of feeding behaviour, which affect the eating behavior of second-generation mice.
BBB congratulates Dr. David Dinges, professor of psychology in psychiatry and chief of the Division of Sleep and Chronobiology, on receiving the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal (non-Government personnel). According to NASA, this award is, The highest honor NASA awards to anyone who was not a Government employee when the service was performed. The award is granted only to individuals whose distinguished accomplishments contributed substantially to the NASA mission. The contribution must be so extraordinary that other forms of recognition would be inadequate.
